Attn: Hunter/Equitation Show participants:
In order to keep our show safe for our horses and riders we are no longer offering open schooling in the main arena prior to the start of the show or during lunch break. There have been numerous complaints about reckless riders, jump adjustments and we have had quite a few close calls and falls. We have added Warm up classes prior to each jump division where riders can get their horses in the ring alone to jump one of their class courses. These classes are pinned, but do not effect your year end scores or your division points. We strongly urge riders to participate in these classes if they feel they need to jump the fences being used in their classes. These are "open card" classes, meaning you can ride your warm up class at anytime during the duration of that fence height. (see the class descriptions to see the duration of each open card warm up class).

We will offer early class riders (classes 110-121) the ability to purchase a schooling ticket for $5 to school in the main arena prior to the show starting. No more than 5 riders will be permitted in the arena at a time, and jumps cannot be changed. Riders will be allowed 6 minutes schooling time only! They must present a schooling ticket to the ring steward to enter, and they MUST BE WEARING THEIR NUMBER! They will be set at the height for our cross rail classes. Schooling will start at 8:45 and run until 9:15. Please purchase your schooling tickets at the entry table.

We hope you all understand that our show is growing very quickly and the well being of our riders and horses is our main priority.

HUNTER VS. EQUITATION. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

Hunters is a classic form of English "hunt seat" riding based on the tradition of fox hunting. Horses may be any breed or age to show in the Hunter Division and includes both flat and over fences classes which judge the horse's movements and form.

Equitation classes judge mainly on the rider.  They are judged on their position, control and ability both on the flat and over fences.

JHA hosts six Hunter/Equitation shows scheduled on the 2nd Sunday of each month during Show Season; October through April.
